Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. So first of all: hello! Awesome pictures here! Now the work:D:

These are initial character designs for my 3D short film "Sonic" (working title!).

Since I am at the beginning of the design process I would like to get some feedback which character design you like most and why. I am giving you some info on the character so you hopefully have a better idea on what I want to achieve:

The character in my film is a 32 years old hedgehog (in "human years" so to speak). He is married and has 6 kids.

He is a...:
loving father, yet sometimes misses the days when he had his wife just for his own;
dreamer;
inventive;
slightly macho type of guy;
loves to watch movies.

Of course I am also interested in what sketches you don't like and why /
what could be improved.

Unfortunately I can not reveal much about the story yet. But I will keep you updated about the progress.

Thank you for your time and looking forward to your comments!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Sketches 1-13 (the good ones :))are not from me. They are from Jakob Schuh (www.studiosoi.de) who will aid me in the process of character design. Lucky me ;)

Thanks!
Markus

Thanks guys! It's funny: I have shown these sketches to many people but almost everyone has a different favourite :)

How does everyone here go about it when creating your characters etc.: How important is feedback from other persons to you? Or do you just design a character to your own liking?

Btw: #6 and #13 are my favourites...I also like #5, but I wonder if the very small eyes won't restrict me too much later on in animation?! (not so many possibilities with facial shapes)

For those interested: until now #6 is by far the most liked sketch.
