hello everyone :D
i started working on a painting im going to do for a friend.
she wants to have a text put on a quite abstract background, overall it should look the way like this (http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b260/sawart/bild026.jpg) one i did earlier for her :D
i started searching for ideas and made some sketches in photoshop.
so far, i like the 3rd one most.
I've send that friend a mail today to hear how she tinks about it, cuz in the end its her who has to like itn but i'd like to hear some other opinions and maybe get some tips how to change the design, how the colors would work together better etc :D
cheers, sawa :yayca:

What you have here is an exercise in graphic design.

Something to try:

Put each individual word on its own layer. The move and scale each word separately. Try cramming them really close together in some areas, and pulling them away from each other in others.

If the final image is going to be non-digital, then avoid fonts on the computer altogether, because reproducing a font by hand is an exercise in frustration. Focus instead on handwriting.

“Abstract”, by the way, means reducing an image to something simplified. So that plant-thing is an abstraction of a plant. Random smears of color aren’t abstract, however; they are non-representational.

The images on the top right and bottom left have the most rich colors, because they go from a light yellow to a dark red or orange, instead of extending all the way to black or white.

It is the contrast and hadwriting that can make your artwork very appealing.

I like very much the image above on the left and the one below on the left, the latter could be significantly enhanced by using real handwriting like on the first.

Kind regards
Kristin
