I just joined CA a couple of days ago so hello! Anyway, to the point.

I recently graduated university with an honours degree in animation. I have studied art all my life: at school we were taught fine art painting, sculpture, theory and history by excellent teachers and I studied all periods and styles; then at university I was torn between focusing on animation or illustration. I chose the former. Anyway, having now graduated I have decided that I want to work towards becoming a professional concept artist, embracing those practices I learned at school and improving my love for digital and traditional painting. Here's the catch: I'm colourblind.

I'm sure this affects many great artists. I have trouble differentiating green/brown, blue/purple, green/yellow... it's a bit tricky. Fortunately I have no problem working in tone and can see environments perfectly, I just can't pick the colours very well. Many a time have I created what I thought was a half decent painting only to discover that the sky is purple and the sun green.

Does anybody have any tips for this? Currently I have a vast library of paintings which I like and have chosen for various aesthetic reasons - mood, colour etc - which I use as a palette: when I want to paint something I go through it and find the sort of colours I'm looking for and throw them down on the palette, however I'm sure there must be other artists out there and on this forum who suffer the same thing...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you want to take a peek at any of my artwork:

Ah, cheers. It came into my head so I posted it straight away without looking.
