Ok, I haven't had internet access at home for some time now and I thought I would chill and see what you all think. Obviously, with lack of internet to keep me interested and sidetracked, I've been sketching a lot and reading up on some things I've been wanting to. That's a plus side I suppose. But without internet, I'm like a month behind on SB responses, FF responses, IRC comments and general nonsense. So, In order to survive it, I was wondering what you all do when you have no internet and nothing else to blame it upon when you don't get something done.

Here's my list:

SKETCH
Read
Think of something that makes no sense and write/type it out until you can convince yourself that it just might work
Play sports or games with family/friends
Pace back and forth with 3 cigarettes in your mouth pondering where you can get internet usage from.

Without a computer with internet, I could cure cancer due to boredom.
And not because I'm good at curing things.

'Draw...with real pencils and real pens on real paper...and sometimes paint too! Also, I go to the beach and frolic in the sunshine. If the normal beachgoers are disturbed by my pale, paint-smeared boo-tay that's THEIR problem! :D

Curl up into a ball and shrivel up into a little wrinkly black ball of smoldering waste... OR;

Draw/art
work out
watch tv/miniseries dvds/rent a movie
cry- I mean, other manly stuff

Normally, I would try to get out of the house as much as possible and come back to go to sleep. Without the internet I'd get bored really easily.

you say that now... but the reason for the internet in the first place is free porn. so how can you even think that with out all this porn that you would really want to do that more?

i'd probably be twice as good if i didn't have internet.

that actually sounds like a fun experiment, getting rid of the net for a month or so. I just might do it.:teeth:

I cant live without teh internets :o

I'd probably be alot better at art, but would have become a hermit and probably gone mad in the process. Or if i had a cat become one of those crazy cat ladies...but i dont have a cat...

That's a tough one. Life before the internet definately had its perks (more human contact, for example).

When I was in high school my dad got pissed off at me and my bro getting crappy grades so he told us he'd ditch the TV for good. Of course, we fought him about it and the TV stayed.

7 years later I'm sitting in my room, ralizing that I haven't watched TV in weeks. I didn't notice and I didn't care.

I think we're supposed to live calmer lives in general. No TV, no news, no internet. Hell, I lost my best friend the other day because I misinterperetted something she wrote (when we're face to face we're always cool) and all of the drama and everything that goes hand in hand with instant messaging, facebook, myspace, etc can really do damage.

Man oh man, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I never watch tv anymore, I'm so out of the loop with tv shows and such... I only ever watch CNN from time to time for my healthy helping of generalized global events.

well.. my comp recently exploded and its been about a month now with no comp and no internet at home. my only access to it is at work, but of course its very restricted and many sites are blocked [but not CA thank God].. so its not as much fun anymore to get online at work. cant really do much.
so since then.. ive spent much more time out socializing. hangin with my girlfriend and her friends and co-workers more.. meeting new people.. its weird. forgot that there is a world that exists outside of the internet.

luckily my girl is into art too so we spend time sketching together.. but my wacom is sitting there gathering dust cuz i cant use it and it is driving me nuts.

and for tv.. pshh i havnt owned a tv in 3 years. only time i watch it is at the girls place and she doesnt even have cable. its just the local channels she gets.

i can survive just fine with out the internet.. but its not as entertaining :[ - JAG

BUSTED. It is now confirmed there is no such thing as life outside of the internet.

Disclaimer: Anyone saying otherwise, will be caught and forced to watch EVERY single episode of MTV's NEXT, along with other various mindless MTV shows that are perfect for turning your brain into mush.

No but really, I would just draw a lot more but life would be a lot less entertaining, I must admit, which is pretty sad.

there was a time where there was no internet? what did those poor bastards do?!

I think we went outside the house, and went surfing, camping, shopping, visited relatives, visited friends, went to the park, walked the dog, did the gardening, played sports like football/baseball/soccer/swimming...

You know... we had lives back then. :^^:

I'd probably dust my social skills, drawing furnitures & sketchbooks and go to the local café. After a while I'd register to the library again and get interested in my old topics again. I find that the internet is such a barrage of information that it spreads our interest so much we need to focus.

Anecdote: My friends abducted me for a week as an intervention for a workaholic. One week of no cellphone, no computer, no coworkers, no students, no bosses, but a tent and NATURE. Omfg was it cold but it's been a long time since I actually could breathe that good.
We wished we had access to the IMDB or google only twice. =)

i`d probably have more sex and less masturbation.

AND maybe more importantly...i would really work on my drawing-skills...i could be much better without so much welcome distraction of the internet.

BUT i have learned so many things and met so many great people because of ze Internet <,<
