This question might have been answered in other threads,
but since I'm working like a mad man on some work, I cannot spend the time to go searching.

I'm running WIN XP under bootcamp, with painter X installed, and just after a restart today, painter came up with..

Is there a file I should trash so that I can get it started up and working again?
Any help would be appreciated, as painter X on this particular machine is running faster than other machines, and I NEEEEeed to get back working.

Best :D

Sorry, I didn't see this topic..
Here ( http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=101498), however, when I did investigate, I didn't find the files at the path stated in the thread. There was NO "Application support" at the said path. So again, I am stumped. As far as I can tell, it didn't fix it even after uninstalling the software, and then installing again even though I removed from all users..

I know bootcamp is 'sposed to be decent however that could be your problem. Theres another VM you can look up called "crossover mac"...take it or leave it, hope it helps...

Since you're using Win XP, you won't find an Application Support folder since that path (in the other thread linked in your post quoted above) is for Mac.

Go back to that thread and use the Path for Windows, in my post # 3.

Also read my following posts and Philippe's to get other important information related to restoring a corrupted Painter Settings file.

By the way, there's no need to PM me to get my attention. I read all new posts in this forum at least once a day, often several times a day, and respond if I have something to contribute and if I have the time available to help.

If I don't respond, it either means I haven't been here or I can't provide an answer.

You'll very likely always save yourself time in the long run by taking the time to first do a search for related information, then reading the information carefully.

Good luck!

Thanks again for the help,
this is good to know. I ended up however reinstalling it, and curiously all my custom brushes were still intact.

Sorry to PM you, I was in a state of frustration over it not working and in a bit of a time crunch, next time I will try to exercise a bit more patience.:bashful:

-Yes, it works quite well, just like native..just like windows, and on an intel Duo core, it's just plain fast.
