Trying to paint over the centurion by prometheus- does this look like a good start or should I try a different technique- I want to be original in technique but- I also want to learn a few solid ways first- what type of brush shape should I use, right now I just use the round assortment- please advise- thanks Brad

With such a solid drawing, I think you are heading towards to detailing your favorite parts first.
I would suggest starting with basic shapes first, and a get a good feel of lighting, and then go to the details.
You approached this painting in a similar way I approach mine, which starts with a lot of detail in one spot.
I had a drawing professor that hated my drawings because I did this all the time (focused on one spot of the piece instead of the whole composition).
Start basic, and then build the details. Your originality will eventually shine through.
I really dig this guy, and the drawing is real tight.
