Hello there! CA:blahblah:

Welcome to my sketchbook. I'm just an asian teenager who love hand-paint watercolour more than digitalcolour. Well, it's kinda weird in this CA forum, coz everyone painted their heavy-stylish digital conceptart which I cannot do. I use to practice digital colouring for some time, but after a few months, my brother take his wacom back(I've borrowed him). And worse that I'm just student and have no money to buy a new one.:$

Then, with just optical mouse, it's hard to paint CG effectively. So I think about one thing. One thing that I have since I've learned to draw, my hands.
So I practices the traditional painting as I did when I was young since then.:painting:I painted them and scanned into computer and adjusted them a little bit with photoshop.

(end of soap opera:blahblah: )

I would really appreciate any comment/suggestion/critics or anything~ if you have anything to tell me or to my work, don't hesitate, just dump it down,

Thanks~!!

That is some really beautiful work. I would love to see more. I almost never see anyone that does straight to watercolor images with no under-drawing but you do a great job. Keep up the good work.

(ForScience said that I do my work without under-drawing, but actually it does. But just a little and very soft and I always erase all pencil line after finisher painting to keep unique feel of watercolour.)

Oh, and this is my latest work, The giant talking to small human? Just inspired by asain mythology and so on. and again, thanks for every comment!

This one inspired by long-sleeve chinese dancer. Well, I don't know which one is better, the desaturate version or the original bright-colorful version. Any comment anyone?

An art teacher years ago once told me that watercolor is one of the hardest techniques to master, but the one with the most beautiful results. So, keep practicing!:)

Many of the successful digi artists here also paint in oils.
They demonstrate their traditional painting skills as well
as their digital skills at the Massive Black Conferences.

What you are doing is the BEST choice, and if you only
have smashed berries to paint with, you are still acquiring
important skills.

I prefer the lower chroma pieces, but that is a personal choice.
Love the Miyazaki inspired piece of the children on the grassy hill.

Keep painting!

Thanks for compliment! I'll try harder to make better work. This one is inspired by my childhood, pursuing a kite floating in the sky with my dog.

Ps. oomgawa reminded me how Miyazaki's art beautiful. I'll try to paint more beautifully and emotionally in the next update.

Well, as I searching around this forum. It's interesting that most of CA members come from US/ and Europe. I questioned myself "What about great artist in another continent?"
Asia is sure have many great talent in CG, but I think asian artist didn't expose to the world too much because language issued and different art styles. like me...

But hey, that just my opinions :) Take a look at my update and critic somethings if you like them~! Thanks! These are my past CG work.

very very nice watercolours!
i really like how you do those without an outline but looking as though they had white lineart.
you could practice backgrounds, i think this style http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=172511&stc=1&d=1184985212 would gain a lot with a nice background.

Really lovely works, I wonder why you don't get more comments!
Watch out for some of your faces (and a few other spot of anatomy), I realise it's exaggerated but some faces are looking a little squashed. Also not that keen on some of the digital stuff done on top of your pencils and watercolour, sometimes it detracts. Minor stuff though, theres a nice happy feeling in your work which I love :)

Hey...Thanks very much monsterstree! You made me enlighten!! What you said is right, I'm quite obsess with going "digital" and try to make the handwork go digital too. But it's not properly done as you suggest.:xpld:

Anyway, here's my character design for one of mobile game.

Recently I've just get into character design challenge. I've sent 2 design, sadly that none win the price.:[ I wish to know who's winner...

The first one with desaturated colour is inspired by the traditional thai dancer costume(male), after add some armor here and there and also his pole as weapon. He's look like warrior enough.

The second one is the crossover of girl and armored/mecha. I like this one better! Someone said that it's very japanese, but hey, art has no boundary, right?

Well, I've played with Illustrator lately, and have the idea to mix it with real picture. Currently I'm please with the result!:rendered: Still have much to do to make it more realistic though(like shadow, lighting, etc.)

I don't know, but I begin to love this style.[portal]

I made the two pandas wallpaper as a gift for my friends birthday. I also try the experiment with the boy and the cat below too.

Any comment about these? Thanks>:D

Really great water colors. That is a tough medium to break in to but you are suceeded. Keep it up.

I really dig the way a few of the illustrator works on the photographs. It has a nice feel to it.

Post more, I'll check back in.

Bloody Hell!!!! Im currently in love with your watercolours!!!! Theres a nice dreamy feel to them. I think the desaturated ones work best, the colours are more moody. This is very odd because I usually prefer saturated colours.

monstertree
November 28th, 2007, 05:13 PM
I agree with Bendragon, the ones with less saturation are better! I really like the homage to Yoshitaka Amano, he's a favourite of mine too. The Panda-Z stuff is really cute, I like how they look like cutouts placed on location.
Still need a little more subtle use of photoshop, some things like the plants overlayed on the last one detract in my opinion.

Thanks everyone for encourage me to continue on my watercolour!!

Well, you know, conceptart that made in digital way is popular and I often think that watercolour can't do stuff like conceptart. But then I think about Yoshitaka Amano and his work, and read the comment about how you guys like my works, then I think "There're must be the way!"

I try to make other experiment lately, playing with vector graphic, doing pure digital art. However, everytime I pick the brush and paint watercolour, my mind is simply relax, has no stress like when I've done pure digital work.:davi:

(I think I fall in love with my art.)[portal]
