Sure hope they clean their dolls enough if you know what i'm sayin :x
sad... but you can't blame the person who came up with the idea! That's just good business!

Very odd, but if it makes them happy, then more power to them. The way they documented them made it seem rather depressing though.

lawl, the bald headed guy was talking about his glide-flying shit , like if that would make girls run to him in excitement ... Expecting that, and of course its a matter of giving up, he expected something that just doesn't happen :/
Although, theres a difference telling a girl on the first date that you "Do base jumping" for example.. Compared to "ehhr, I do nothing, I'm just home with my computer.. and sometimes I work as a sewage-cleaner "
But to him.. he seemed to expecting the girls to come to him because he did glide-flying :/
:/
Edit* Same with the other guy who didn't even left his house :/ except once a month to go shopping food...

I think it's aparent there's more wrong with them than just their mediocre looks
I'd feel sorry for 'em but... you get out of life what you put into it.

Ok that was kinda freaky.
The dolls are a liiiittle creepy. but what worried me more was the attitudes of the guys. Commitment and relationship issues much. And that Dorset guy bloody hell, thinking he's all wonderful no wonder he cant get a girl, narcissistic idiot. I mean i get it if its a sex thing, but not the whole trying to have a proper relationship with an inanimate object. Why don't they just get a dog/cat/fish/etc if they are lonely and a cheaper doll...
The world is full of strange strange people.

Both sides are sad actually.
One for judging those people without ever being able to know what it's like.
And the other side for giving in to the drama.
So all in all, a sad thread.

Again, what power do you hold to judge people in such a way? Why is your opinion the best one?

Well, of the top of my head, let's see.
Build up of frustration + fear of social interaction => How about rapists? No need to interact and releases frustration immensly.
Now this is ofcourse an extreme example. But you know, the mother of the 16 year old girl that underwent this probably won't think so.
Also, rapists are repeating accelerating offenders until they get caught.
So, instead of 1 girl, that's 10-20 girls.
Now ofcourse, this might only happen after 10-20 or even 40 years, but eventually, it probably will.
Their fear of people from the opposite sex disallows a hooker and they seek companionship more than sex anyway, so if you have other alternatives, by all means, do tell.
Let's say they might have a 50% suicide rate, and with over 2000 real dolls sold. That makes for about 10'000 young women currently rape-free.
Now, if you had to make a conscious decission between letting some people who have given up on life fuck rubber or the other possible effects I just mentionned, which would it be?
Heck, if only 1 girl eventually ended up not getting raped by these guys boning plastic, would it still be worth it to support those people?

Well, we're obviously weighing the activities of these guys against established norms. We do that with a lot of things; going after people who use filters and lots of digital stuff - we don't think it's right, nay we KNOW it's not right, yet despite these people get a thrill from some instant gratification doesn't stop us or this site from chewing them out. Laws are codified to keep order, because disorder is not the chosen way of the majority. Children out of wedlock, beheading infidels, aborting babies blah blah blah...
I don't know if my opinion is correct, or if any opinion CAN be correct. But if we didn't hold things up to established norms and condemn/tolerate/validate it in some way, then all discussion is pointless. Why bother discussing art, why would any person mention their opinion if it didn't really mean anything in the first place.
NO, they're not causing harm (at least to anyone but themselves) but their behaviour is quite a grand deviation from normal human activity; even though we give inanimate objects meaning (grandfather's watch, a child's blankie, family cottage etc.) rarely is it given romantic affection with a personality. It's more or less delusional.
Meloncholie - a little wishy washy, but plausible, and I agree that any saving of life/innocence is worth it. who are you to say that these guys would turn out to be rapists, or that any rapist would be content with a doll? I remember watching a special of a guy who had plenty of sex dolls, plus cushion-mannequins, and still went out to rape little girls. I could easily be wrong, but I think a rapist is not likely to be pacified by anything. The whole thing about porn making deviant (even rapist-like) behaviour worse, and didn't act as a satisfying outlet like people would like to believe seems just as plausible...

And yet it's still better to support their behaviour and help them if they ask and show them alternative ways than it is to judge their ways in a negative manner.
Because the possible results from that all result in things you won't want.
So everyone, get off the high horse and if these people bug you, go help them, otherwise, just let them be.
It's as simple as that.

I saw a documentry of Men and Dolls over here in London a couple of months ago and it showed the more 'extreme' side of the 'fetish'. I say fetish because I see it as being like any other 'thing' a person may like sexually.
Although it is probably much more expensive than the usual.
The men on the documentry I saw were totally obsessed with their dolls (I haven't watched all of the video posted as I'm at work so I'm not sure if the men featured in this one are also like that), but they had completely replaced real women in their lives with fake ones...that's kinda odd to me, but each to their own I guess.
One man started seeing a real woman halfway through filming and when he took her home for the first time he held a party...where all of the guests were his sex dolls. :/ The woman....was in shock and looked rather embarassed to say the least.
The man explained that if he were to be with her that the dolls would come first, and he would want to involve them in relationship. Two weeks later she left him. He had no clue on how to interact with a real human being on an intimate level anymore. He seemed as though he was kidding himself that he was truley happy living like that.

i watched this before, its ridiculous. and thats got nothing to do with judging anyone or anything. but thats a very obscured sense of self and sexual mentality. it really is sad that some people get so infatuated with inaimate objects, but its a pretty common occurance.
its like drugg addicts. most wont even admit they have a problem. some insist its not hurting anyone. fine if you feel that way.. but it doesnt make it OK for you [or anyone] to be a drug addict just because you're ok with that. its not healthy behavior.. but what do i know, its just my 2 cents - JAG

You are right, and I don't want to persecute them, I'm just saying I don't have to agree with what they do. I agree with everything but this;
And yet it's still better to support their behaviour....
Coddling and fostering behaviour that's 'undesired' may lead to the thought that it is ok, and the development of something MORE... going from not so sure about your life style to being ok with it, then feeling superior about it...
I was babied as a child and I'm still fighting to undo the damage caused. I was rarely talked to about my shy behaviour and I honestly think that's why I'm having a hard time as an adult. I would have appreciated some more 'tough love' to build up more of a thick skin on me, and some pushyness by my parents to keep me in social groups. Telling me that it was alright to be shy and not talking to me about it allowed me to develop a mindset that I find undesirable.
But that's a subjective experience, and something not nearly as serious as this. All I know is that usually with support comes acceptance, and that it's probably healthier for people to hold other people in high regard. These guys seem to dislike social contact, and most likely don't really like other people. Maybe this will lead to disrespect, and a more rapist-friendly mindset.
Conjecture, though.

Personally I have had a lot of trouble with women, and I constantly find myself feeling rejected and lonely. But even in the very depths of it I could not even imagine using a doll for companionship.
There is probably more to this than meets the eye. If these guys just wanted to bone the dolls and go on with their day that would be creepy, but somewhat understandable. The fact that the only companionship they have comes from inanatimate objects could be revealing a deeper phsycological problem.
I agree with Melancholie, the fact that these guys like "women" who never speak or move could mean that if they were pried away from their dolls they would end up as date-rapists.
This obiously won't be the case with all of them. However, their behavior, creepy as it may be, is better than risking the potential harm their sexual preferences could cause.
Besides, at some point a few of them will probably realize that real women have things that dolls just can't give them and return to normal dating.
But...I've been wrong before

I'm not saying it's the best. I'm saying I would find it extremely difficult to socialize or be associated with them, why would I want to? It's not exactly the nicest thing, but it's my preference frankly.
I do agree with DeadBeat however, much better the dolls than real humans without consent.

Well i don't think those men are necesarily rapists.. if it is purely sexual, humping dolls because they can't get a real woman, then i might understand.. everybody needs to get their freak on.
It's the fact that they claim to have a realationship with the doll that i think is twisted... dude, she's plastic, she can't love you, and you have issues :[
i dunno...

"I'm runnin' out of vaginas...'
Not many people get to say that
Also, I may have thought about this too much, but I wonder if there's doll swapping. Like wife swapping, except with...their dolls.
