At least for me, I notice a difference if I haven't drawn for a day or two, or come back to subject/aspect of drawing that I haven't visited for a while.

But, I've also noticed a great capacity in myself and in others to judge quickly and harshly- especially when I'm feeling down. This can cause special trouble if I'm down about my art skills. The judgment comes quickly and it can be viewed as confirmation that I'm crummy- which is a conclusion that simply isn't true. I suspect it's the same thing that causes a lot of people to quit, and most people to never start in the first place.

Being aware of this cycle has made a world of difference- the judgments are still there but I just don't give weight to them, don't believe them. They're just...thoughts... and really only have power if I give it to them. I make my best effort to be realistic about how far I've come and how far I've gone, which helps keep things in perspective. I'll always be better than a lot and worse than many, so what's the big deal?

If you want to find out if this is normal, do a search in this section of the boards.
There are quite a lot of people who have started a thread similar to yours.

Visit the sketchbooks section here everyday for about a week. That oughta do it.

I found that I was inspired more by seeing everybodies' daily sketches and doodles than looking at finished works.

Good Luck.

drawing is like working out. You get worse if you don't draw on a regular basis for a while. I notice a difference even if I skip one or two of my weekly drawing session.

I'm going through a similar thing right now. I'm very depressed and have no desire to create anything. I'm just trying to stick around the boards to try and find inspiration and rekindle the need to create. I would advise this to you as well, keeping yourself immersed in art helps even if your not doing anything of your own. Try helping some other people with their work, and just try and step back and relax for a minute with your own work, sometimes you just need to step back for a bit, so you can come back strong.
Best of luck!

It's honestly probably a little of both. I mean you have to be unispired to not draw in a while. So as a result you'll get rusty. Drawing is like everything else in life...the more you do it the better YOU think you are :P. Hopefully other people will think like you will.

I usually try not to draw if im in a bad mood, if im drawing from observation in a bad mood i usually become impatient and frustrated and dont take the time and dont really help myself out.

I have experienced that myself...it totally sucks. I think chaoticnight is right though. It helps to step away from it for a while--take a break.

Hmm, for me when I'm stressed my art tends to become real slooow...

But after a while, because I'm so concerned with getting my art the right look that I want, I forget the depressing things and pick up my usual pace. In fact, after finishing it or stopping for a snack...the stress is still gone! And the troubles that I face during that time seem more solveable(is this the right spelling?).

When I'm feeling uninspired...
Hmm I do different things...
I could just look at amatuer or professional artwork,
Walk around...
Eat...
Looking at other people and their stuff - I don't know why but the objects I tend to see nowadays seem to have a human figure to it...then I think...can humans move that way? I suddenly feel inspired then,

Perhaps what you need is to experience something different from your normal routine.
