I'm not sure if this is the right place, but i've posted about tablets before in here so here goes :) i've just got an A4 trust tablet really cheap for £40 or so. Even though wacom was said to be the one and ONLY to get, someone told me that the trust one is fine. personally, i've started to dislike it. well i was mainly dissapointed at first coz i thought u got the computer screen on the tablet and drew on it, but that was my own stupid fault for not looking into what tablets are :P so ignore that....it just feels odd whenever i use it, and i don't tend to like using it at all. Like the lines are always horrible. When i've seen other people use tablets the work looks beautiful, mine looks crap on the other hand, and i tend to go back to the mouse for painting with pencil sketches scanned in.

So the real question i'm asking after all that babble is it the tablets fault or just the settings which i've not figured out yet. or it could just be me having to get used to the tablet. Please give me some feedback if you know anything, because i'm confuzzled wether to buy a wacom anyway or just stick with the one i've got for now. I'm only 13 and it is used for practice so It's not like i'm going into anything proffesional, just for fun.

Many thanks :D

A lot of people just have to get used to using a tablet when they first get one. It took me awhile to get used to looking at my computer monitor and drawing blindly with my hand.
I have a pretty low end Wacom that I got for $99 U.S. It's the small 4X5 Graphire and it works pretty well. But my lines looked strange and bizarre at the beginning as well, it just takes time and practice to start getting the kind of control you want out of your tablet.
I recommend scanning in a piece of line art and tracing it, or even signing your name over and over in Photoshop or whatever program you have.

The only tablets I've seen that have the screen you can draw on directly are the Wacom Cintiq's which run for $2499 U.S. Thats about 1200.00 GBP.
I'd like one too...

Yeah, I always suggest to newcomers to tablet-usage to buy the Trust one.
Simple reason is that it costs way less and you need to get used to it first.

Once you start pounding out some good stuff, you can actually start taking comissions from private persons (maybe even companies) and thus you will be able to save up for the Wacom of your choice.

I see alot of people use the smallest of the wacoms...I could never do that, so I am saving up for as large a Wacom as possible. Meanwhile, Im learning how to use the tablet from scrach with my Trust one... this way there will be some new stuff to learn with the Wacom, but as far as actually drawing wth a tablet, Im going to be well prepared to use the $1-200 wacom once I get it.

Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for the Trust tablet (can be found on the Trust website) and that you set the tablet how you want to have it... double-click on that little tablet-icon in the right corner (next to the clock, on a PC) and play around with the settings till you're happy with them.

This will do a huge difference, as some people want to press hard to get different preassurepoints, whilst others want it to be a very narrow spectra between the lightest preassure and the heaviest preassure...

Just practise practise practise...

And Wisdom is correct, the only tablet you paint directly on a screen (that I know of in any case) is the Cintiq.

And it costs up to a quarter of a years worth of a salary...

hehe thanks again, i forgot entirely about the settings, and it reassures me someone else is starting out with trust. i take all these comments into full consideration and appreciate them massively :) i just need to get a steady hand, on the screen you can always see the jitter of the line coz of my darn hand. anyway, many thanks once again :D
