hey guys, i have been gone for a long time. just been busy with a lot of other things and i have been lurking from time to time. there is a lot of great stuff still going on here, and there are some awesome new names.
this is a drawing i did in my sketchbook today. its a small sketchbook, 4.5 x 7. i used inks, gouache, and prismacolors. feels good to finally paint something again. i have been on a long leave of absence from my art. thanks everyone.
oh yeah, and if anyone is in the bay area i am having an art show starting the 12th of august, at 1653 haight at villains vault, san francisco. they will be hanging for a month. come check it out!

Cool. I was missing seeing your art around here. That reminds me of el coro's sketches.

I agree, at first, I thought I had accidentally clicked on el coro's daily image. :p
Really cool sketch, the detail in his face rocks!

Everyone thinking this looks like el coros stuff means its a compliment. Looks nice. THe right side of the hood cuts in a little early and makes it look like he is missing the back of his head. Thats just my observation/opinion though.

really masterful work. i wish my finished stuff rocked as much as your sketches.
how did you come up with that green? the piece itself is great already but the green outlining really does it. bravo!

aaahhhhh yeeessss.... you are learning much and your kung fu is strong indeed. nice to see you working on paper. i thought i clicked on my area, but to my suprise, i found some drawings i wasnt sure i did...then i realized they were yours ;)...anyway, great work, man, and i'll be sure to see your show next time im down on haight. if i were to give a critique, it would be to use more saturated colors of gouache, and to use the whites more sparingly. also, i think you could get a more interesting array of brushstrokes if you use more ink, and lay it on very wet, instead of scrubbing.. also, just get crazy. i like the green around the first guys head, appears you laid down a bit more ink on topof the gouache? i like to spray fix, then reapply the inks on top of the gouache work sometimes to get those glowing colors. work layers and get daring with your color schemes. i think highly of your work, and thats why i'm being nitpicky. although all of these pieces are very polished and well executed, in my opinion. keep it up.-c36

targete: haha, and i need to get into digital more :P
coro: yeah, your colors are always so saturated! i cant do that for some reason. i didnt think about fixing it and then working back ontop. so you put the tria inks ontop of the gouache after u fix it? i need to get some of those. i am always struggling with color schemes...i think i need to retake my color theory class :P or just go read some books or something. hah. any pointers? thanks for all your kind words, you are very inspiring. maybe some day we can show together somewhere, hah.
amador: yeah these are all still in my small sketchbook. i need to start doing them larger, but i just have my small book right now and i like to finish them before going into other ones. um...im not sure how long. maybe an hour? i dont know :P heh, sorry!
gekitsu: im about to get back to your pm..probably tonight.
thanks everyone! ill try and finish the other one i started today...keeping in mind my saturation and wild colors! ;D
