This was a concept maquette sculpt I did for Z-Axis/Activision about 2 years ago for an X-Men video game they were working on. We tried to push the design of the characters but untimately they decide to go with the look of the last X-men movie characters.
I think they ended up scapping the whole project all together.
Anyway I thought I share it with you-all.

Mark.

Now THAT is a terrific Wolvy right there! Mark, you're an inspiration, and a sculpting machine. Amazing detail, and the design is fresh enough to stand out in an industry saturated with Wolverines. Never stop!:teeth:

I'm sure it's just for aesthetic effect... but really... where would his claws retract to? Their longer than his whole arm...?

The detail is amazing on this.

My one criticism is that his butt seems freakishly tiny.

DAMN that is sick! Hats off to you that is by far one of the coolest statues ive ever seen. and to mementomori, wolverine isnt supposed to be big, he is actually supposed to really short.

edit: or did you mean big muscularly? Cuz it really depends how the artists draws (or in this case) sculpts him.

It's a very well done sculpt, but I have to say, between the physique and costume, it looks like Tom of Finland does Wolverine. And I had the same question as Sinaz.

Easily one of the best sculptures I've seen for a long time, very awesome, but yeah, Sinaz has a point.

ya cause the reason i was wondering what clay was used...because of the hair...that looks lke it would be tough to pull of in sculpy

The blades are unrealistically long. It suppose to be shorter than his forearm, or the metal cannot retract back into his arm because it doesn't bend!

This thing rocks.

I guess the tiny ass bothered me a bit too, but it's so stylised you can't realy crit that.

The blades are unrealistically long. It suppose to be shorter than his forearm, or the metal cannot retract back into his arm because it doesn't bend!

And his skeleton is made from adamantium... know what i'm sayin :bashful:
Ok maybe i like them a bit shorter too, but again, it's very stylised and it doesn't bother me

Thanks for all your comments people. About the claws... The art director that I was working with really wanted these extremely exaggerated claws.
I think it works well with the design. They are telescopic ... yeah That's it.

Yes, I guess he needs to do some gluteus crunches.

nice sculpt dude but im thinking if he tried to retract those claws they would come exploding out the back of his forearm. OUCH!

Same comments from me really, the claws could do with being shortened slightly but that's all I can fault....amazing detail, wonderful sculpt...a joy to look at, you must be proud of him!

I know I'm chiming in late, but it's the first time I've seen this thread...awesomesauce. If the claws were like 25% shorter I could handle the exaggeration better. I dig the gloves. Great details, great work!

Dude thats really cool I wish that Stan Lee had made a cooler concept for the hair cause its so hard to make it look right but you did a good job on it.

That is absolutely awesome, you inspire me to get back to traditional sculpting soon. I need to finish up some other stuff though. The detail in the pants, shirt and hair are amazing. keep up the good work.
