Update on November 14, 2007. Domestic and Wild Animals.
Thought I would also go ahead and start my own photo thread for critiques and so on...I am kind of going to try to start with older ones and work my way up. Sorry some are so large, photobucket is refusing to resize random shots for some odd reason. These photos are a few months old, I'll post newer ones as soon as I get them on the PC.
These first few are all done at a lake I routinely hike around.

Helloooo! :)
Nice set of photos you have. My favorites are the branches with the ice/water and the personality filled bird images. My overall crit would be to pay attention to focus/blur that are in most of the photos.
Can't wait to see more! Oh, don't forget to number and/or title your images. :)

I'm liking the picture of "Nick", the hawk. Its very dignified even with the cage. The pictures of you hiking are also pretty good, especially the one of the tree stump. Very twisted.

Haven't posted for awhile, and I have hundreds of photos since then. Here are some recents I think are better, critiques are more than welcome.
First some domestic animals, my cats and dog:

I think the focus on the centipede is off

This is a Red Eft. For those of you who don't know salamanders, it is in an interesting stage of life. It will live on land for potentially years looking like this, as it's color eventually begins to brown, then green, as it will morph into an aquatic organism and migrate to the water for the rest of its life. It is born in an aquatic state as well, which is what makes this salamander/newt creature so interesting. Just thought maybe some of you might like to know what your looking at! This photos aren't great, the light was terrible, but it's pretty good example of the species.

Really nice DOF on the last one.
Nice composition on the frog. I think the rocks are a bit overexposed, but it's not really distracting.
I absolutely love the one with the doe(?), I just wish it had better focus.
Keep shooting and posting! :)

Thanks, yeah the doe was out at dusk, and my camera isn't so good that it has superb focus once the light begins to fade, once of it's downfalls. But I think the composition was decent, and theres some interesting soft tones and color in the background.
Yeah and I agree with the overexposure on the rocks with the frog. That was also at a time of day when the lighting made things somewhat complicated, and I fussed with my camera setting for awhile over those rocks moreso than the frog lol.

I went to an aquarium a couple weeks ago, and these amazing jellyfish gave me endless beautiful poses and intricate designs. I could have photographed them for years and never gotten near the same picture. It was awesome to just watch them too, very calming and meditative. I mainly concentrated on composition with them. The lighting came out better then I thought it would have.

this applied more to your first batch, I think you have to be careful about tight crops, since you run the risk of lack of focal point.
