Hi guys,
One of my first attemps as drawing a waterfall landscape.
Was great fun but the water is very hard to get 'right'...
Tell me yours thoughts... I would love to see some other peoples paithings of waterfalls... If you dont have any, go paint one and post it here! ... Will be good fun.
Any advice on how to paint water would be fantabulous.
Lemme know what ya think...
Thanks ^^

I think things are looking pretty good at the bottom of the piece, but at the top the waterfall seems to be coming out of nothing.
It seems like it should be coming out of the side of a mountain, but instead you have it coming out of an area of trees/sky.

The way your portrayed the water is interesting despite whether or not it looks like real water. Plus, if it looked any more realistic then it wouldn't flow as nicely with the overall style of the painting. I like it.
Water can be tough. I am more successful with it with watercolor painting.

I really like the trees and background. It's so grainy and watercolor-esque and the colors meld together very well. The water is stringy but I like it. I think the problem is the color of the water in contrast to the others-it's so white that it looks incomplete. I think making it darker with some more movement through strokes to give dimension to it flowing would really make it seem more appropriate to the rest of the image. It pops out tooo much. :)
It's really a good piece with a pleasant atmosphere!

Thanks for the comments guys. I totally agree, my itch was with the water all along. Spent most of my time on the image trying to make is believable... I will have a go at mending it based upon the hints given :)

I love the way this looks. It reminds me of old Chinese Sung dynasty paintings. I rather like the water how it is. The only thing bothering me is, like mentioned before, that the water comes out of nothing. Let me know where it's coming from and why it's falling the way it is (it's so thin at the top and so full at the bottom...)

It makes more visual sense, but the water seems ¨stuck¨to the side of the mountain. Can you add little cascades from each source point to indicate a little more gravity?
