Sorry for giving some without names names, but it makes them easier to identify. I hope I did them some justice, though I do admit some of the names are pretty bland.

Aren't we forgetting something? White isn't a colour! Although it is a great conceptual well shot photograph, I don't feel it really relates to the topic. The only colour contained in the shot is the faint pink of the mouse's tail and ears, and I doubt that is what's motivating the votes (correct me if I'm wrong). Don't get me wrong though, I love the idea behind the image, and the image itself, but see a pattern forming of people voting for the image without much consideration of the challenge topic. I realize as I have an image in the photochallenge, that this comment may be viewed as a form of competative jelousy, but its not. I've lost many more times then I've won the photochallenges, and I think loosing isn't a bad thing. As participating in the photochallenge shouldn't be about winning, but developing your photography skills, and creativity while working within the limits of a specific topic.

I would have to venture to agree with pimp. Like he said it is a brilliant idea and well executed photo, but white is the absence of color.Does it really pertain to the limitations of the challenge? Anyways, just throwing that out there. Stine got my vote, for the simplistic nature of the photo and the solid one color aspect. Well done to everyone, very interesting to see what everyone turned up with =)

I thank you very much for that Kendra.

I had to go with Stine. I think it illustrates the concept the best and shows an aspect of technical consideration a step beyond just framing up a subject nicely.

Oh, don't take it so literally, Pimp. :)

Great entries everybody!

Big Kudos goes to the people I felt stuck to what I thought the challenge was all about, thus you get feedback! :)

Stine- I wasn't too interested in the subject matter, but I like the reflective properties you captured.

Nightspiritwing- Pretty cool flowers. :) I think more contrast would have helped.

Klips- You already have my thoughts on this in your thread, but I'm still lovin it. :)

Someone- Nice abstract! Probably could have used a bit more contrast though.

Sezcat- Nice browns and nice ducks. :) Your image was probably a spur of the moment, but I think the ducks could be a bit sharper

Fingers- Very nice one. :) I think a bit more negative space would have helped push the chaos feeling more.

Kurdt- I LOVE your twist on the challenge, it was very unexpected. :)You got my vote! :)

Demonic Rabbit- You already know how I feel about this one, nice going! Close second! :)

The others had too many colors, were too edited or were too greyscale for my thoughts/opinions on a "One Colour" challenge.

My shot has only "one color" pencils

Purplerose, thanks... I always crop too tight :) I voted for yours because of the perfect execution of the topic, filling the entire frame with one color but still having depth and structure to it. Demonic Rabbit's and Lordarka's were my runner-ups.

Sorry, guys, but I put an end-date on the poll just to help the whole thing get back into a rhythm. Yeah, some people missed out on voting (including me, oopsie!), but who has voted has done so, and so Lordarka has won (I'll PM him).

If he doesn't make the new thread soonish then it goes to Brett or Stine.

Yeah, it all seems a bit condescending and nanny-like to spell this all out, but it does help explain why you can't vote any more, etc. to people that may not know why.

It looks like Lordarka isn't making a show, it's been over a day, so Brett, Stine?

(Also, should maybe the poll end on Wednesday so we know by Thursday who's doing what? As it would be nice to have the Friday properly allocated to the challenge. Or maybe by about 1200 [EET/EEST] take the votes then so we know by 1800 [EET/EEST] who's doing what. Though that would require people to make sure they check into the forum at the time bracket 1200-1800 [EET/EEST])

If by midday tomorrow (your time) no one turns up do you want to get the ball rolling again? (That is, of course, if it's okay with everyone else.)

Due to the late start of the challenge to be it seems we'll just have to have it end Tuesday next [24 Jul 07].

Hey folks...

I just checked these messages...I'm on vacation, have about 30 seconds before I leave to go out again, and will be computerless for the next 3 days.

Blah blah blah...anyways, if I was to suggest a topic, it would be "Food and/or Drink" Only because I just ate this incredible salmon dish and I am totally in a gourmet foods mindset right now. Vacations kick ass.

Anyhow, take that idea and run with it if that sounds like a fun one. There is no way I can make up a new challenge over the weekend, so one of you other cats are gonna have to do it... if that one sounds good... I just threw out a topic idea.

OK, my 30 seconds are up and I'm already late

- out.

how about "common" or "everyday" it's hard for people to make a common thing you see everyday interesting? or how about "young" or....."water" or something O.O I dunno

Whatever

water has already been done. Well we gotta pick something. I was thinking something dream oriented, like an image that references a personal dream (images from the subconscious mind). Or personal symbolism, or just symbolism. What do ya think?

alucard

how about a still life photography

this way anybody can participate ... just improvise a studio and setup a scene ...and in this way we shall see the imagination that lurks inside us. you don't even gave to go outside ...an this way you can shoot ...''whater, image from the subconcios mind, common, young, food, enything you whant, just pick a subject...

I say food and drink. It's what Brett put forward in the time that he could. You can incorporate it with still life and go for the stereotypical 'still life fruit bowl thing', but either way I think we should do as Brett suggested, after all the challenge rules state that he choose the topic.

It may not sound very imaginative at first, after all, what can you do with food? It's just food. Though that's all the better because it's yet another chance to look beyond the obvious and see how you can spruce up food in a photo. I remember somewhere on the forum there being a brilliant series of photographs about food.

hey there, sorry for responding this late, i haven't had a stable internet connection for 8 weeks now...
i think "food" is a great topic - it can be really traditional and also very unusual and it's technically challenging, too. i thinks it's really hard to make food look as good and delicious on a photo as in real life. so i would go with brett's suggestion. hope to be able to participate with my dsl down...
cheers!
