Hi all, I am new to digital painting. Only just bought a Wacom. I have been drawing since I can remember so am just getting used to the transition from traditional to digital. Here is a portrait of an old school photo of me. I used it as a reference. Its mostly accurate :)

hey Welcome!
Looks good so far, just beware of some of the values. The mouth area looks waay too dark. Also, several facial features look off to me, remember this is a digital medium, so that means you can drop as many layers down as you want to try new things and to put up structure lines. Digital Artwork is limitless, and I'm no pro, im just discovering this myself.
Keep going, and keep posting! We look forward to seeing more from you, especially some of your traditional sketches, so if you got a scanner, work it! :P

Thanks ChaoticKnight. Yeah the lips are too dark :( Now I can see lots of mistakes lol. But cheers. I will improve on those. I try not to use all the conviniences that digital art provides. I never use the undo tool. I will always try to fix things with just paint. Usually I end up getting frustrated and give in though. hehe. Below is an oil painting I did for fun. Its mounted on the wall at home and is too big to scan, so I have taken a picture. Hope you like it.

I am thinking of giving this character hair? The bald look doesnt suit the pictures mood.

Maybe some greyscale images would allow you to get used to digital more easily? The last one is a great effort though, keep it up!

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I am taking some life drawing classes atm with Uni which is helping me out. I re-did the warrior picture above.

i tried to re-do the warrior pick. i did it all on one layer, which meant that i couldnt be arsed to do a background cos id have to be really careful around the edges of the character... lol
