ey, im new to max, but not to photoshop..
wanted to know...
i have a model my freind gave me to skin..have each part
defined out,..but i cant see how the models gonna look in 3d..so can u tel me how to apply the skin i made in ps to the model in max..?

For a character, after you create the model in 3d Max, you will then "unwrap" the model. It is a modifier that you apply to it.
After you unwrap it, you will have a wireframe layout of each of the "faces" of the model that you unwrapped.
You paint over the faces, using the wireframe as the guideline in Photoshop. After you paint it, you just apply the painted image through Material Editor in Max and it will auto apply the paint to the right parts.
It's not an easy process.
Painting is not to bad, Modeling is not to bad. Getting both to work exactly how you want is rough.

Skinning on a wrap can be a pain in the arse to get right, but I came across this handy piece of software. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it could be very handy.
