Scanned drawing coloured by mouse in photoshop. Any suggestions for the improvement of this?

The softness looks beautiful on the face... not so much on the clothes or rocks in the background. You have a semblance of lighting on the face, but again, clothes and background nadda.

For a simple lighting breakdown, place your highlights close to your light source on all your objects, and place your shadows on the side of the object not facing your lightsource.

Also, you should check out Bridgman's "Drawing the Draped Figure". You should be able to get it off amazon for only a few bucks, it's a pretty small book. Anyway, it defines the different types of folds and will help with her cloak.

Lastly, search the web for some rock reference. Your lack of reference distinctly shows.

The softness reminds me of pastel. Good job coloring with a mouse...your hand okay? I agree with the rocks...looks like piece of foam. Give the rocks some hard edges and shadows to give it form. Looks flat. The lighting is okay but I wouldn't mind seeing some nice contrast like if she blocking off a sunset and the back of her in shadows.

Other than what has already been said, the ear shape is a little weird at the bottom and the ear is a little too small. Also, the tear on her face (?) doesn't really look like a tear, due in part to the fact that the tear and the streak of it going down the face are too varied in opacity. Just forget the line I drew under her ear, I was testing something. Her jawline is also a little odd, so I fixed it slightly. It's a very good picture, but it had some slight obscurities in proportion. Also, personally, I think the nose is too small.
