Hello all,
so I am willing to buy a tablet, more precisely a a5W (6x11 - though this tablet is really 17:10 instead of 16:10 =/, I don'T understand that)
So, I've read some rumors about it, but nothing really concrete.
What do you guys think? I wouldn't mind waiting a little bit more for the next gen.
Best,
Bruno.

Never heard anything about it, not even "rumors".
There isn't anything really next gen they could do besides upping the specs or slapping tons more buttons on it. It's pretty bleeding edge as it is.

maybe you read about wacom intuos 4 x 5 , but except for that, i dunno as long as it wasn't some drunk devianfartist
I've searched and skimmed through the internetz and couldn't find anything...
So go for the intuos 3, I have no clue how they could make it better... add more annoying buttons that you touch when you move your arm around ? ? yeah maybe that.

Care to be more specific about what these rumors are...?

As far as I know, they are pretty secretive about it. I remember buying my Graphire2 and having the 3 come out withing a month.

There is the wireless wacom bamboo but it should under no circumstances be confused with an intuos as it appears to have most of the salient characteristics of the graphire 4 range. Hope springs eternal for a wireless intuos.

yeah, maybe "rumors" was too strong ... i've only find on the web one or another talking but nothing really concrete
sorry for my ignorance, but when people say there'S nothing really to improve I always think about the pressure level of the intuos ... I know it has 1024 and as far as I know it is really good. I was just curious if more than that is needed or 1024 is the limit and anything beyond that is useless?
Thanks again,
Bruno.

They could make the standard round brush rotatable. And the wireless thing of course. they could also make it white and shiny, like an Mac. everyone loves white shiny stuff

wouldnt that make their pen 6d pen obsolete

It's necessary though, just having tilt isn't enough for real control. They need to sense the pen position, pressure, tilt *and* twist as standard. Making it wireless is another obvious improvement. My Wacom is the only wired thing on my desk these days.
Of course they don't have any real competition so prices will stay high and we wont see much innovation. I'm not dissing Wacom, that's just the economic facts. We're lucky to be seeing as much innovation as we are.

Yes, the new intuos4 can be turned so that it works for left handed people :)
only thing bothering me about that is the upside down "wacom logo" :oneye:

I think it's a little odd that Wacom hasn't pimped these out on their site or made any sort announcements. If these things are ready to be shipped, wouldn't they be saying, "WOWZ guys look at this new product about to be released!!". There was another blog I found that had prices listed but I'm not sure how accurate these are. Here is what they quoted:
4x6 - $299
6 x 9 - $479
8 x 13 - $999 (ouch much?)
12 x 19 - $649
Damn, why bother spending that money for an 8 x 13 when you can get a small cintiq for the same price? I know that new technology is always expensive... but eesh. Anyway, I think I'll hold off for a while before upgrading anything. My Intuos 3 does just dandy at the moment.

are you joking or you really didn't get it was a typo?
the price list could be fake, but I assume that 8x13 is around $ 539 - 559

Don't be a dick.
If it was a typo, they could have fixed it. Unless they were being purposefully sarcastic which I didn't pick up on (because as we all know sarcasm is translated so well in text format). All I did was copy paste.

It all depends on how much backstock inventory of the Intuos3 Wacom has on-hand. If they have nothing left in the warehouses and across their distribution partners, then yeah, demand is good and all is well, but on the other hand, if product is sitting and economic turmoil abounds...the smart move would be to get rid of all remaining stock before being forced to slash prices on "last year's model" when the Intuos4 line debuts.

I saw the same price listing over on Endgadget (http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/22/wacom-intuos4-tablet-caught-out-of-the-box-in-the-wild/) and the only thing I can think of is that the anonymous tipster got the last two reversed.

Everything I've heard is prices for the Intuos3 are already coming down. I'm not sure what they are waiting for as far as an official announcement on the Intuos4.

Why does the 8 x 13 cost more than the 12 x 19? o.0
And where's the 9 x 12 version?

Wonder if you'll come back and find out it has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity.

My bets on what burning_chrome said about the tipster accidentally reversing the last two prices.
I was wondering why they didn't have a 9x12 too, but with most new monitors now being in a wide screen format, I think they might be pushing their tablets to follow that ratio.

The pricing is wrong. At least according to the computer at my local Best Buy the first two are at the 'normal' pricing, I did not check the large and extra large but I should've. It's this website: http://thatposhgirl.com/
Oh well, we'll find out day after tomorrow now won't we? I'm tempted to check the other two since I know it's in their system.

The Large is $469.99. Confirmed it at my old job. Didn't bother checking extra large, way outside my price range :/
Edit: Oh and the small and medium are $219 and $349 respectively.
