Flagship Studios is a creator of innovative entertainment software, designing games that focus on ease of play, replayability, and fun. Flagship Studios is looking for an experienced Concept Artist to work on the ongoing development of the Hellgate universe.
You’ll join our tightly-knit team of dedicated game creators, many of us the original creators of the Diablo franchise. You’ll help to define what’s next for us as we push our sci-fi/fantasy, hell-on-earth world to the next level.
We’re looking for someone experienced, who can design unique and memorable weapons, costumes and monsters that fit our style. The ideal artist will be able to blend fantasy and sci-fi elements, hard-surface and organic. We’re looking for someone well-rounded, fast, and imaginative.
Job Description:
The Concept Artist works with the Art Director and the rest of the concept art team to develop designs for characters, monsters and weapons in the game. They will produce both rough sketches for idea-generation, and final designs used for modeling and texturing. Most projects will need both a posed ¾ view that show the personality and spirit of the design, and clean, precise orthographic drawings or turn-arounds for the 3D artists to work from.
Core responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Art Director and other concept artists to produce quality designs that define and expand the look of the game.
• Will work primarily on character suits, weapons and monsters. Possibility of some environmental concepts.
• Some texture work may be required.
• Assist in giving feedback to modelers and texture artists, especially external contractors.
Qualifications:
• Portfolio demonstrating strong ability to create unique and compelling sci-fi and fantasy designs for costumes, monsters and weapons.
• Minimum one to two years of professional experience games or related field.
• Strong Photoshop or Painter skills.
• Should be able to work quickly and efficiently.
• Must be receptive to art direction and peer feedback. Should be willing to actively participate in design process.
• Demonstrate ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
• Must be able to work under deadlines and manage time to get work done.
