Give you some ideas. Have you seen 'Seven' with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman ? There was fat guy who was ridden to a table by murder and killed with enormous amount of food. Terrible dying fed like duck.
Have you seen 'Saw' ? Maybe Jigsaw was a psycho killer or maybe he was brilliant minded setting up people was killing themselves in most terrible way. That is most horrifying when death comes from within…
Or maybe you’ve seen Evil Dead where Ash tried to kill his alter ego cutting him for hundred pieces or ass kicking priest from Brain Dead?
Horror has many faces …

As all medium are acceptable -and we make the rules-, this time it's pencils and paintshop (for blood only).

I just discovered Nightmare of the Week... I will probably not participate this round, but I may do it if there will be any more of these in the future. I'm very fond of the idea of a weekly horror related activity. :)

Dying as a victim of a madman who keeps his prey alive as much as he can , drugging him, supplying with fresh blood to prolong his agony. Ridden to the wall in deep cellar he is waiting for death to come, prying for it.
Cause of dead – pain due to extraction of many internal organs.

SirJohanna- congratulations for discovering NIghtmare Of the Week, now why wait, when you can just start drawing now?:) Hope to see you participating soon!
Manuel Calavera- I see this as someone who's drowned and is floating in muddy waters of the river full of corpses.... maybe not drowned but some crazy folks are chucking dead bodies in the river to get rid of them..and instead the corpses swell and float up to the surface...
Well, that's how I see it.

Hi,

I have here for your consideration, the fate of a man who got drunk and fell asleep with a cigarette in his mouth, suffering the death of being burned alive.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/TheCrazyDudeSRD/burningman.jpg

In actuality if I had found this sooner I would have worked more on this but I did this in about two days after trying to figure out what sort of death would have been the more terrifying, I came up with Being stoned to death, Boiled alive in a vat of oil, drowned, being tortured and then resesitated only to be tortured again... then I thought of it being more of a surreal sense (which I really wanted to do but time again became a factor...) Perhaps being comatos for the rest of your life, or being completely ignored by any other living being... ah well, I'll probably end up painting those in my time... anyways; good luck with the NotW; I hope it becomes as successful as the other ...of the week ideas!

This thread looks cool, and it could have plenty of potential. Especially with how populer horror has become in films in the last couple of years. But its lacking something to attract people. maybe im wrong, but i think the majority of people on this whole site come here becouse their interested in having a carreer in art and design, whether it be gaming, concept design or even illustration. So just thinking out loud but, maybe you could have a theme to these weekly briefs, something that will give it a more work oriented feel. Eg.. A horror theme such as create an image of someone being torturered or mutilated, but it also has to be suitable for a record album, or dvd, cinema poster, or even a few images that would fit into a story board, suitable for a game or movie.

I guess you're right grenogs.
And more - people don't like open topics like this one or like last topic on EOW (Miniature city). In my opinion those topics are great because gives lot of freedom for interpretation and imagination. But most people don't like to think too much and prefer having strict brief and clear direction what to paint and how.

i think the miniature city topic could have been an excellent one to do, it had so much scope for imagination suitable for anyone, whatever their style. and the only reason i didnt do that one was becouse i was planning to do the angus topic in chow, but even that never happened then due to my own work and pure lazyness last week. :(. And i agree, for the majority of these forums, especially the ones which have been running for a while, the more open the topic the better.(these are specially good for people with artist block) However i think some of the newer ones need a little direction in them, such as this one, just to get people to start entering them. Because the sad fact is that people like to stick to what they know, and where their most comfortable. But i think it would also be nice to have one of these forums where the briefs are very strict, where there has to be certain measurements, or image has to be in a particuler shape, etc... like most proffesional work environments often are.
Take people out of their comfort zones and they will often learn so much more.

I guess one of the most scariest things that could happen is to wake up one morning, or night, and to discover that your tied or chained to a bed, total at mersy by the person or persons that done this to you.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x279/grenogs/nightmare-pt2.jpg

But then to discover that the bottom half of your legs had been practicly torn away would really panic you. And once you got over that second more terrifying shock, then the final and more terrifying brain overloading, nauziating stench of realization realy kicks in. The creature or should i say creatures that coused this ultimate carnage onto you were infact maggots, and they are slowly but surely eating their way up your body, literally bite by bite. ;)
