great reads man. thanks a lot for that.
interesting to see the number of VFX shots used over the years increase like that...and they are getting long.

yeah - funny how there seems to an inverse relationship between the # of VFX shots and the quality of a film...generally speaking of course.

shinnier, sexier, faster...and oh yeah - do it half the price and time.

hey as long the public is willing to gorge on the film equivalant of a packet of twinkies and the studios make their money...they will milk as many sequels out of these trainwrecks as possible.

And what the world needs is more crappy sequels to crappy movies...

keeps some of us employed around here ;)

and if not - theres always video games...

Health is wealth.

Working in the industry is great and all, but I mean come on it's just movies. I guess to argue it's because they make so much money... But, is it really worth it to stress so many people over something so unecessary in society when it comes down to it? I don't blame many for pulling out, I wouldn't risk my life for just a movie to have pretty visuals. There are better things to use your skillset for. But, I'm sure it is just a phase in a still maturing industry. Btw are there guilds for VFX artists and animators? There needs to be some agreements and restrictions.
