I JUST got a wacom tablet!!! I have oogled them from a far for too long. These forums have isnpired me to dig deep in the shallow pocketbook and purchase one. I am very glad I did so far. Ok enough chit chat----on with the artwork!

Please! Tell me what I am doing wrong! I enjoy hearing the good stuff but it won't help me learn. Thanks for being so kind as to look at my art!
Luck,

First of all, they look washy...try to define harder edges...it will help to make the pics tighter...
Get rid off the dodge tool (i guess you used it on the fingers...and overkilled it :))...
Don't neglect the "not so important" parts like the ear or the finers...put more detail in this regions...currently they make the image worse, though the faces are well done...

I see what you mean about the hard edges. Right now I am basically smearing things around like pastels.
Thanks for the helpful critique!

I'm not sure---what do you people think? Better or worse?

worse, sorry
I liked the original neck much better, it's a bit too thin now and it makes her look much older.
And of course fozz said to define harder edges, but I think he was mainly referring to the second pic. The way you painted the first really adds to the picture, IMO. the new version has too regular hair spikes (hanging down) and they look less realistic. Also, beacuse of the new shape of her hair she lost a kind of movement in it.
second pic. Not sure about the size of her eye, and the position of his ear. More detail in the hands will certainly help.
Besides that, Keep it up! It looks great!
