Hello all.....I've been trying to practice sketching with the pencil and trying not to spend more than 30 minutes per drawing.....here are some pages from my sketch book
(inspired by the machine designs/hover cycles from "Wonderful Days" anime)
coloured in about 2 hours each on PS7 while dancing and eating in front of my computer screen (yeah....I'm need a life)
Regards
hope you guys enjoy....c+c welcome

this first design is more for skipping on the surface of water.

This one is more of a mini attack sub....yeah lots of fun.

roundeye :....they are ugly....but I like them ugly and blocky. I'm experimenting with form at moment and trying to learn from a variety of mecha designers....hopefully I can come up with my own style at the end of it. Ugly is too subjective.........your webpage has good art in it...but the webpage is "ugly"

they are very interesting designs. i would work more on your people indication... it's not at the same level as the rest of your drawing/painting... makes it seem out of place

I like these machines...not at all the usual, and I like that. :) They strike me as being made from spare parts of old damaged mechs. Very Cool!

keyth, i laughed too. Roundeyes website has amazing art, and that my friend makes it beautiful.

BTW, i think these vehicles of yours look pretty darn cool.

i am a fan of the bulky old mech designs,
i think they are armoured extremly well , although...

the glass around the pilot is a bit offputting, not how you drew it that's fine, but would there really be glass protecting the most valuable part of the mech, (the pilot) just thought it was strange the driver was out in the open and not incased in armor.

i really like the designs in general, that's a killer style. :)

I liked the sketched versions of these I saw a few days ago, and these colored versions are great. They still have a simple blocky characteristic, and they're sort of rough, but that's a good thing in this case. Half of me wants to see them worked on more, and the other half says don't touch them.

Thanks for the Crits Everyone........I wish I could have spent more time on these .....but I will consider all suggestions on my next designs.....as of the moment I'm trying to time myself to only 30 minutes on the design process.....once that time is up, I'm forcing myself to stop designing and start colouring. My goal is pump at least 5-8 sketches a day....30 minutes each(that's without colouring)......My designs are a bit weird looking .....one thing I have learned from coming up with your own style of Mecha is that it's a bit harder than I thought it would be........I can't help but incorporate influences.....but it's a good way to learn I guess.
Anyway I'll make an effort to tighten up the design like many have mentioned....we'll see from there

Cool! It would be nice to see one in perspective.

Bigger is better!

I think you could improve them by orders of magnitude if you showed them in a context of some kind. just a hint of BG or mecanic crew working on them.

i love your robots, mechinery, ect. they are great. i think use of slight tint in your highlight color (as you have it now, white) would push these type of illustrations you do further. two lightsources would make them breath more.

as for these two paintings i like them a lot, they are sleek. they dont look too functional, they look more like 3d graffiti.

These things look so mean. I would just love to see them in action in a podracer like film. So when can we expect some mock up animations? Nice work, keep going.
